Your apps live inside your Base44 workspaces, where you and your team build, test, and ship together. You can move apps from your personal workspace to a shared workspace, keep everything organized in one place, and make sure each app sits under the right team and permissions.

Moving an app to a shared workspace

You can move an app from your personal workspace into a shared workspace to collaborate with your team. Once moved, the app is managed under the shared workspace’s permissions, but you’ll still remain the app owner.
Important:
  • Moving an app from a personal workspace to a shared workspace is irreversible. This action cannot be undone.
  • Only the app owner can move the app.
  • All app data is transferred when you move an app into a shared workspace.
  • No credits are transferred with the app when moving to a shared workspace. Each team member uses their own credits based on their plan. For more information, see Credits with teams.
To move your app:
  1. Open your app in your personal workspace.
  2. Go to your app’s dashboard and click Overview.
  3. Click Move App next to Move to Workspace.
  4. Select the workspace to move your app to.
  5. Click Move App to confirm.

Transferring app ownership

App owners can transfer ownership of an app to another admin so the right person manages billing, permissions, and app settings. This is useful when someone changes roles or when responsibility for an app needs to move to another teammate. The new owner must accept the transfer by email before it takes effect.
Important:
  • Only the current app owner can transfer ownership.
  • The current app owner and the new app owner must both be on a Builder plan or higher. The app is managed under the new owner’s current plan. If that plan does not support some features already used in the app, those features may not work as expected.
  • After the transfer, all future edits, updates, and app usage use credits from the new owner’s account.
  • Transferring ownership does not move the app between workspaces or change its visibility.
To transfer ownership of your app:
Before you begin:
  • Apps in a personal workspace: The new owner must already be an admin in the app.
  • Apps in a shared workspace: The new owner must be an admin in the app and a member of that shared workspace.
  1. Go to your app’s dashboard.
  2. Click Users.
  3. Choose how you want to start the transfer:
    • From the target admin: Find the admin you want to transfer ownership to, click the More Actions icon and click Make owner.
    • From the current owner: Find your own row as the current owner, click the More Actions icon and click Change owner, then select the admin who should become the new owner.
  4. Confirm the transfer details:
    • Select the checkbox to confirm that the selected person becomes the new owner, including all app data, media, and connected third-party services and accounts.
    • Select the Disconnect integrations after transfer checkbox if you want to remove existing external connections for security. The new owner can reconnect their own accounts after the transfer.
  5. Click Change ownership.
  6. Ask the new owner to open the email from Base44 and click the confirmation link to accept the new ownership.

Once an app is moved from a personal workspace to a shared workspace, it cannot be moved back. The best next step depends on your goal and whether your app is already active with users. Choose the option that fits your situation:Option 1: Continue using the shared workspace: If you moved your app to the shared workspace to collaborate, and it’s already active with users and data associated with them, we recommend continuing in the shared workspace. You’ll need to purchase a seat for each collaborator, including yourself.Option 2: Clone the app back to your personal workspace: If your app is still in development, not active, and has no existing users, you can clone it back to your personal workspace. Note that cloning an app does not transfer users or data stored in entities. To clone your app:
  1. Switch to your personal workspace. Click your profile icon in the top right corner, then select “My Workspace.”
  2. Open the relevant app and go to Settings → App Settings → Clone App → Create Copy.
  3. A duplicate will appear immediately on your Apps page with the suffix (Copy).
While data stored in entities can be reimported, user data cannot be exported for privacy reasons.
