We are in the process of updating all accounts to this new workspace model. If your account has not been updated yet and what you see does not match this page, read About the previous workspace model instead.
A workspace is your main hub for app development and team collaboration in Base44. When you join Base44, a workspace is created for you automatically. You can purchase a plan for your workspace to get credits and unlock additional features. You can switch between workspaces at any time. Click your workspace name at the top left of your account to see your workspaces and access settings. Workspaces you have been invited to also appear here.

How workspaces work

Each workspace has its own plan and a shared pool of credits. Everyone you invite to a workspace builds and runs apps using those shared credits. Apps always belong to the workspace where they were created and use that workspace’s plan and credits regardless of who is working on them. You can be a member of up to 3 workspaces at the same time. You are the owner of workspaces that belong to your account, and you can also be a member of workspaces that others have invited you to. Learn more about how credits work in Credits.

Workspace roles

When you invite someone to your workspace, you assign them a role. Roles control what each person can see and do.
  • Owner: Manages billing, members, settings, apps, and credits for the workspace. Each workspace has one owner.
  • Admin: (Enterprise plan only) Manages members and workspace settings, but does not handle billing.
  • Editor: Can be invited as a collaborator on specific apps to create and edit them. Editors do not automatically see all apps in the workspace; they need to be invited to each app they should have access to.
  • Viewer: Can be invited as a collaborator on specific apps, but can only view them. Viewers cannot edit apps, use the AI chat, or access most of the app dashboard.
  • Guest: Can edit specific apps they are invited to, but cannot create new apps, view other workspace apps, or access workspace settings. Guests are added through app invitations, not workspace invitations.
Everyone you invite uses the workspace’s shared credits when they build or use apps. They do not need their own paid plan to access what you give them in your workspace. However, if they want to build apps or use credits in their own workspace, they will need a paid plan for that workspace separately.
If a workspace downgrades from the Enterprise plan, any members with the Admin role are automatically moved to an Editor role.

No. Members do not need their own paid plan to access what you give them in your workspace. However, if they want to build apps or use credits in their own workspace, they will need a paid plan for that workspace separately.
Credits are not shared between workspaces. Each workspace has its own plan and credit pool. Activity in one workspace does not affect the credits of any other workspace you belong to.
Editors need to be invited as a collaborator on each app before they can see or edit it. Go to the app in the app editor, click the Invite collaborators icon, and invite them from there.
Viewers can be invited as a collaborator on specific apps to view them, but they cannot edit apps, use the AI chat, or access most of the app dashboard. If you need someone to actively contribute to an app, invite them as an Editor instead.
Yes. All applications and content you create in Base44 belong to you. Base44 does not claim ownership of anything you build.
