Add the Google Maps connector to your Base44 app so it can search places, plan routes, show maps, and check the weather. Google Maps runs on Base44 credentials or your own Google Maps Platform API key.
You need a Builder plan or higher to use connectors in your app.

What you can do

Bring location data into the pages and flows your app already has.

Find places

Search for places near a location, and show their photos, ratings, and opening hours.

Plan routes

Get directions and live drive times, and suggest when to leave.

Show maps

Show map images and Street View, and check addresses before an order is placed.
Included APIs Google Maps gives your app these Google Maps Platform APIs:
  • Places: Autocomplete, text search, nearby search, place details, and photos
  • Routes: Directions and drive times
  • Geocoding: Turn addresses into coordinates and back
  • Static Maps: Map images
  • Street View: Street View images and their details
  • Time Zone: The time zone for a location
  • Weather: Current conditions and the daily forecast
  • Air Quality: Current air quality
  • Roads: Snap a route to roads and find the nearest roads
  • Address Validation: Check and correct addresses
Interactive and 3D maps aren’t included. They run in your visitors’ browsers, so they need a separate Google Maps browser key, not the key you add under New credentials.
Example prompts In the AI chat, describe the places or addresses, what triggers the action, and how the results should appear in your app. For example:

Connecting Google Maps

Add Google Maps from the AI chat or your app’s Integrations page, then choose how to connect:
  • Base44 credentials: No API key needed. Calls use integration credits. Only the app’s owner can choose this option.
  • New credentials: Use your own Google Maps Platform API key. Calls don’t use integration credits, and Google may charge you for them. Enable the included APIs in Google Cloud, and don’t restrict the key to websites.
Your app’s terms of service must say that it includes Google Maps features and content, and that their use is subject to the Google Maps End User Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
To connect Google Maps from the AI chat:
  1. Open your app in the app editor.
  2. Ask the AI chat to add a Google Maps feature, such as one of the example prompts.
  3. If the AI chat asks questions first, answer them.
  4. Choose how to connect:
    • Base44 credentials: Click Use Base44 credentials.
    • New credentials:
      1. Select New credentials.
      2. Click Continue.
      3. Enter your key in Google Maps Platform API key.
      4. Click Save credentials.
After you connect, click a prompt under What you can build to add it to the AI chat, then edit it and send.

Troubleshooting

Check who connected Google Maps and which credentials your app uses if it can’t connect or stops working.
Only the app’s owner can choose Base44 credentials. Ask the app’s owner to connect Google Maps, or select New credentials and use your own Google Maps Platform API key.
Google rejects calls when an API isn’t enabled for your key or the key’s restrictions block it, and Base44 shows Google’s error as it is. In your Google Cloud project, enable the included APIs, allow them in the key’s API restrictions, and remove any website (HTTP referrer) restrictions from the key.

Calls with Base44 credentials use integration credits, including test calls the AI chat makes while building your feature. The number of credits depends on the call, and a feature can make more than one call each time it runs, for example a place search and a map image. To see what your app used, open App usage and select Show details under Integration credits.
