# Socket sessions

> Open, change, and end the sessions a white-label builder's browser uses to receive live updates

<Warning>
  Socket sessions are in beta and available only to white-label workspaces on the [Builder plan or higher](/Account-and-billing/Billing-and-plans) that have [live AI chat updates](/developers/white-label/live-updates) turned on. Ask your onboarding contact to turn them on for your workspace.
</Warning>

A socket session lets a page in your product receive [live updates](/developers/white-label/live-updates) for specific apps. Your server opens a session each time the page opens, with a workspace API key that has the **Watch app builder updates** permission. A session watches up to eight apps for one hour. Sessions are never extended.

Your server sends the session token to the browser, and the browser connects with the `@base44/platform` SDK. Create a client with [`createPlatformClient()`](/developers/references/platform-sdk/docs/functions/createPlatformClient), then use its [`chat`](/developers/references/platform-sdk/docs/interfaces/chat) module to receive the session's messages in your callbacks. Keep the session ID on your server to change which apps the session watches or to end it.

## Messages

* [Socket messages](/developers/references/apps-api/sections/socket-messages): Every message on a session's connection, in both directions, and the fields it carries.

## Endpoints

* [Create socket session](/api-reference/create-socket-session): Open a session for specific apps.
* [Add app to session](/api-reference/add-app-to-session): Let the session watch one more app.
* [Remove app from session](/api-reference/remove-app-from-session): Stop the session from watching an app.
* [End socket session](/api-reference/end-socket-session): End the session and disconnect the browser.
