# Deployment

> Preview, publish, and unpublish an app with the Base44 Apps API

<Note>
  The Apps API is in beta. Its endpoints and responses may change.
</Note>

These endpoints control where an app is served. Look at your work in progress with a preview, publish it to production, read the public URL, and take it offline again.

## Preview and published

An app has two addresses, and they show different things.

* [Get preview URL](/api-reference/get-preview-url) serves the app as it currently stands in the app editor, including changes that haven't been published. The preview runs in a sandbox that shuts down when it goes unused, so the first call after a quiet period takes noticeably longer.
* [Get published URL](/api-reference/get-published-url) returns the public address of the live app. An app that has never been published, or that was unpublished, has none.

## Publishing

[Deploy an app](/api-reference/deploy-an-app) publishes the app's current version by default. To publish a saved version instead, pass its ID. Find versions with [List checkpoints](/api-reference/list-checkpoints). To publish a site you built yourself, use [Deploy a prebuilt site](/api-reference/deploy-a-prebuilt-site).

[Unpublish app](/api-reference/unpublish-app) takes the app offline. Visitors see an offline notice, and the app's data, settings, and custom domains stay as they are.

## Endpoints

* [Get preview URL](/api-reference/get-preview-url): Get a URL that serves the app as it stands in the app editor.
* [Get published URL](/api-reference/get-published-url): Get the public URL of a published app.
* [Deploy an app](/api-reference/deploy-an-app): Publish the app's current version or a saved one.
* [Unpublish app](/api-reference/unpublish-app): Take a published app offline.
* [Deploy a prebuilt site](/api-reference/deploy-a-prebuilt-site): Publish a site you built yourself from a `.tar.gz` archive.
